LSU and Texas A&M will meet on the fooball field for the 63rd time this Saturday. LSU leads the all time series 32-23-3. LSU has vacated 4 wins. The 1st meeting between these teams was a 52-0 Aggie victory back in 1899. These teams have not lost since opening day, and both teams are undefeated in SEC play.

Texas A&M (#14/#14) 6-1 is playing a 4th straight SEC game and 5th SEC game overall. This Aggie offense is 11th in the SEC in total yards per game (404.7), 2nd in the SEC in rushing yards per game (218.6), and 13th in the SEC in passing yards per game (186.1). This offense is led by quarterback Conner Weigman, who was a bit dinged up early in the season. Do not be surprised if Marcel Reed enters at quarterback if Conner Weigman isn't playing so well. Le'Veon Moss, who is from Walker, LA, is a true workhorse running back on this team. Moss ranks 2nd in the SEC in rushing yards and 5th in the SEC in rushing TDs. Noah Thomas is the leader in the receiving room. The Texas A&M defense is 8th in the SEC in total yards per game (325), 8th in the SEC in passing yards per game (209), and 11th in the SEC in rushing yards per game. Linebacker Taureen York, defensive lineman Nic Scourton, and defensive backs Will Lee III and Marcus Ratcliffe are the leaders on this defense. Will Lee III is tied for 2nd in the SEC with 8 passes defended.

LSU (#8/#7) 6-1 is playing a 3rd straight SEC game and 4th SEC game overall. This LSU offense is 5th in the SEC in total yards per game (450.7), 2nd in the SEC/8th in the nation in passing yards per game (322.4), and 14th in the SEC in rushing yards per game (128.3). This offense is led by quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. Nuss is 1st in the SEC/11th in the nation in QBR, 2nd in the SEC/6th in the nation in passing yards (2,222), 1st in the SEC/7th in the nation in passing TDs (18). Running backs Caden Durham and Josh Williams are the leaders in this running back room. These guys provide a bit of thunder and lightning for the Tiger offense. Kyren Lacy, Mason Taylor, and Aaron Anderson are the leading pass catchers on this team. Lacy, Taylor, and Anderson are all in the top 10 in the SEC in receptions. Lacy and Anderson are in the top 9 in receiving yards and top 10 in receiving TDs. The Tiger defense is 14th in the SEC in total yards per game (358.6), 15th in the SEC in passing yards per game (243.7), and 9th in the SEC in rushing yards per game (114.9). Whit Weeks is the clear leader on this defense. Weeks is tied for 1st in the SEC/10th in the nation with 68 tackles. Bradyn Swinson and Sai'vion Jones are both in the top 10 in the SEC in sacks. Ashton Stamps and Zy Alexander are holding it down on the outside for this defense. Stamps is tied for 4th in the SEC in passes defended.

KEYS TO THE GAME

- O-LINE RULES - Texas A&M has only given up 7 sacks this season, and LSU has only given up 2 sacks this season. These are two very talented offensive lines.

- KICK IT - This game features elite kickers. Randy Bond and Damian Ramos have only missed 2 FG's each on the season. Bond has a long field goal of 49 yards, and Ramos has a long field goal of 48 yards. Both kickers are 25/25 on extra points this season.

- BEND BUT DON'T BREAK - Le'Veon Moss is a great running back. It will be very hard to shut him down. Can this Tiger defense slow him down? Can they make Conner Weigman beat them?

- EARLY & OFTEN - Can LSU's offense keep this A&M defense guessing? This defense has not faced an offense like LSU.

Fun Fact: LSU punter Blake Ochsendorf and Texas A&M wide receiver Cyrus Allen were teammates at Louisiana Tech.

After a weather-delayed kickoff, loyal NOLA Gold fans were treated to a rollercoaster of a match that ended with a well-earned 44-36 victory over the Seattle Seawolves at the Shrine. This win moved NOLA Gold into 3rd place in the Major League Rugby Eastern Conference standings. Coach Danny Lee said of the team's response to the delay, “We just had to control the controllables. Once we told the boys the definitive time for kickoff, we had a plan ready to go. In terms of game plan, we had to be a little bit more direct, and we had to kick and adapt quickly.” NOLA Gold set the tone early, taking an initial 3-0 lead thanks to a steady penalty kick from Dorian Jones. Though Seattle answered quickly with a try to make it 7-3, the Gold launched into a dominant scoring stretch. Isaac Te Tamaki powered across the try line to ignite the offense, followed by back-to-back tries from the relentless Jonah Mau’u. Jones continued to add points from the tee, stretching the Gold’s lead to 27-7. Just before halftime, the Seawolves found a breakthrough and scored at the buzzer, narrowing the margin to 27-14. However, NOLA emerged from the locker room with purpose. Xavier Mignot wasted no time reestablishing momentum with a try that pushed the lead to 34-14. Seattle fought back with intensity, capitalizing on back-to-back tries to bring the score to 34-24. But NOLA responded with composure, as Jones added another penalty to keep the visitors at bay, 37-24. The closing stages of the match saw both teams exchanging blows. Seattle’s try was met by a decisive moment from Joe Taufete’e, who muscled through defenders for a critical score. Luke Campbell’s conversion extended the lead to 44-29. Though Seattle scored one final try at the buzzer, it wasn’t enough. With a final score of 44-36, NOLA Gold walked away with a crucial five-point win in front of a roaring home crowd and strengthens their postseason hopes with a firm grip on 3rd place in the East. Their next match will be on the road against the San Diego Legion on May 4th at 4:00 PM CT. For tickets and more details, please visit www.nolagoldrugby.com
