Blake Grupe Kicks a Game Winner & Security Has No Idea Who He Is

Saints are ALL the way back!

The Saints kicked off their preseason with a bang, securing a victory against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a thrilling game that showcased the team's potential for the upcoming season. The offense look to run smoothly at the start of the game, and the fans got to witness a comeback win in the Superdome. Rookie Kicker, Blake Grupe, nailed the game winning kick to earn the first win of the preseason.

The kick wasn't the only thing that Grupe was known to split between before the game.

Superdome Security had no idea who this guy was, or knew he was on the team! I imagine Grupe was in all his team provided gear, and  Security was about to put him out on Poydras St.

The Saints have him listed at 5'7" & 157 lbs. Imagine seeing this dude on the field walking out in warm ups.

After today's game, I might be the leader of all Blake Grupe fans, The Grupies (Grupers? still a working name. Look out Swifties). He currently is in a kicking battle in camp with Will Lutz, and It's likely he wont make the final 53 roster. I just hopes he continues to help him win games for the Saints as long as he is on the roster.

How about Redfish and Gruper getting a picture in from training camp like 2 fish in a pond!

I can't blame security. Better to take caution first when you don't recognize someone on the field. There's no chance the idea this guy is a football player would cross my mind first. Here are some of my first thoughts:

  1. Coach's son.
  2. Outdoor Sales Rep who rides on a hover board in your neighborhood to get your termite/bug exterminator services.
  3. High School soccer player.
  4. Pat McAfee's little brother.
  5. The kid who asks you permission to take your daughter to the Homecoming dance.

Our king doing big things off and on the field. The Grupies' spirits are high, and we're along for the ride. Let's hope winning this game leads the Saints with momentum into the regular season!

Kansas City Chiefs 🏹 #ChiefsKingdom TE - Tulane Green Wave Johnny Pascuzzi- jpazzedout 6-4/241 Scouting Report: Athletic tight end with good size and receiving ability who played at Tulane after time at Iowa. Brings the Iowa tight end pedigree with solid blocking fundamentals and improving receiving production in spread offenses. Local Kansas City area product adds extra intrigue for the Chiefs. Strengths Athleticism and size: Impressive combination of height, length, and speed for the position. Good vertical and explosiveness allow him to win in the red zone and down the seam. Reliable hands and route running: Sure-handed catcher who can make contested catches. Shows natural feel for finding soft spots in zones and separating in man coverage. Blocking tenacity: Iowa-developed blocker who plays with good leverage and effort. Willing to engage defenders in the run game and as a pass protector. Football IQ and versatility: Smart player who understands scheme and can align in-line, in the slot, or split wide. High character and special teams contributor potential. Competitive motor: Plays hard on every snap with a team-first attitude and physicality after the catch. Scouts see him as a high-upside camp invitee with the tools to earn a roster spot as a developmental tight end who can contribute on special teams immediately while continuing to develop his receiving game.
