Get Ready For Your Laketown Squadron, RIGHT HERE IN LOUISIANA!

The Birmingham Squadron came to be in 2021 as the G-League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans. In Birmingham, the team gave developing players a chance to improve and work their way to the NBA or even back to the NBA.  After 5 years in Birmingham, it was time to move the G-League affiliate and bring them closer to the NBA team. So, they packed up and moved to Kenner, Louisiana, to become the Laketown Squadron.  The move allows for a stronger connection between the two teams. Making it easier to develop players and prepare them to help make the leap to one day play in the NBA. Hopefully for the Pelicans.

For Example, someone like Jaron Pierre Jr, who was born in Louisiana and attended Saint Augustine High School in New Orleans. He averaged 17 points and 5 rebounds in his final collegiate season at SMU. New Orleans selected him in the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft with the 58th overall pick.

So, with the move the Squadron hope to bring some optimism to the local scene and bring in some home-grown talent. With the connection to the Pelicans, the team hopes to help players chase their NBA dreams. A new home, a new court, a new generation of talent, and a future built right here in Louisiana.

A quick share helps us a lot!
