New Orleans Saints vs San Francisco 49ers 2025 Week 2 Preview
After a close loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the New Orleans Saints have a chance to bounce back against a depleted San Francisco 49ers team, but can they do it?
What the 49ers bring to the table
Going into each season, the 49ers are a competitive team filled with talent, but this year is a bit different. The team saw many key players leave this offseason, and with the goal of extending QB Brock Purdy's contract, many of the roster holes could not be filled. In addition, injuries have been a constant issue for the 49ers, and this year as already started with way too many. Purdy will be out of this game, which leaves backup Mac Jones set to start. With RB Christian McCaffrey healthy, the game plan should be to rely on the running game. If they do go to the pass, 2nd-year WR Ricky Pearsall and veteran Juan Jennings will be the main targets in the offense. Going to the defensive side of the ball, this is where the 49ers can win this game. With Nick Bosa on the edge, Fred Warner at LB, and Deommodore Lenoir at CB, the Saints are going to have a tough matchup ahead of them.
How about the Saints?
After their loss to the Cardinals, the Saints had some positives to take away from the game. Spencer Rattler looked fine passing and was accurate, the running game looked excellent, the offensive line did not struggle much, and the defensive line disrupted the game. The main issues were the penalties, and if the Saints have any hope of winning this game, they need to fix that. This is also a game Rattler should do well in. Yes, I mentioned the defense for the 49ers is strong, but Rattler is going to have opportunities to throw deep on this team, and he could have a big game.
Injury Report
- EDGE Chase Young - OUT
- G Trevor Penning - OUT
- S Jordan Howden - Questionable
My Prediction
I believe if Spencer Rattler plays well in this game, the New Orleans Saints win. I think this happens, and the Saints should also clean up the penalties. My final score prediction is 24-10 with the Saints winning.
A quick share helps us a lot!
