Murphy, Outside Shooting Lead Pels to Victory

It was the Trigga Trey show on Sunday night as Trey Murphy scored dropped 41 points to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a 127-110 victory over the Portland Trailblazers.

Murphy made nine three-pointers in the game, scoring his 41st point early in the fourth quarter, and head coach Willie Green took out the sharp shooter at that point, and the entire crowd gave Murphy a standing ovation.

On top of Murphy’s career-best performance, C.J. McCollum had his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 22 points and having 11 assists.

Herb Jones scored 16 points in the matchup, and Josh Richardson scored a quiet 19 points. Jonas Valančiūnas also had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

The whole team played well. There was a ton of activity on defense, challenging every pass the Trail Blazers made. Portland was without Dame Lilliard, who was ruled out right before the game. But the Pelicans were once again without Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Jose Alvarado.

New Orleans is now 32-25 on the season and in 11th place with 14 games to go. The local team’s next game will be played on Tuesday, at home, against the Los Angeles Lakers at 7 pm.
