Let's get into it!

Despite being John L. Guidry Stadium and Tiger Stadium 1 hour and 21 minutes away from each other. This is the first time these two schools will be meeting on the football field.

Nicholls (0-1, #22/#25) dropped its week 1 contest against Louisiana Tech. This ain't ya daddy's Nicholls. Coach Tim Rebowe has completely revamped this program and deserves every ounce of recognition he receives and then some. Nicholls, who is coming off of a Southland Conference title, was selected to win the conference yet again. This Colonel offense is led by quarterback Pat McQuaide (Preseason 2nd Team All-SLC), running backs Collin Guggenheim and Jaylon Spears (both Preseason 1st Team All-SLC), tight end/h-back Lee Negrotto (Preseason 1st Team All-SLC), and offensive linemen Evan Roussel (Preseason 1st Team All-SLC) and Reed Lambert (Preseason 2nd Team All-SLC). The Colonel defense is led by defensive linemen Rasheed Lovelace, Kershawn Fisher, and Joe Mason (all Preseason 1st Team All-SLC), linebackers Hayden Shaheen (Preseason 1st Team All-SLC) and Eli Ennis (Preseason 2nd Team All-SLC), who was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week in week 1, and defensive backs Tyler Morton and Kendarius Smith (both Preseason 1st Team All-SLC). Nicholls' punter, Kylan Dupre (Preseason 1st Team All-SLC), is a field flipper; he is an extremely talented punter. This Nicholls team will be hungry and will be playing with nothing to lose.

LSU (0-1, #18/#19) dropped an absolute heartbreaker against USC in week 1 in front of the entire college football world. LSU cannot come out with any sort of week 1 "hangover." Can you create opportunities for your playmakers? Coach Kelly spoke about getting guys like Kyren Lacy the ball, you have got to create opportunities for your differencemakers. Can you shut down this Nicholls' running game? LSU's run defense was quite impressive last week, but can you continue that in this one?

KEYS TO THE GAME

- EARLY & OFTEN - This LSU offensive line got punched in the mouth and did not recover last week. You have to establish this running attack early in this contest.

- FINISH THE JOB - This LSU redzone offense has got to improve. You have got to come away with more points in the redzone. Later in the season, you can't trade 7's for 3's.

- YOU GOT TO LIVE & LEARN - Can you learn from your mistakes? 10 penalties for 99 yards is unacceptable. These silly unsportsmanlike flags have got to go.

- MAMA SAID KNOCK YOU OUT - This LSU team has to keep their foot on the accelerator. You have go to put your opponent away when you have the chance. Can this team deliver the knockout blow early? LSU fans will have to see a blowout to get back on board.

Fun Fact: LSU running back coach Frank Wilson ended his college playing career and started his coaching career at Nicholls.

247Sports All-Time Commits rankings showing player cards with photos and ratings; Tylan George and Jordyn Crites visible

Tulane Green Wave fans have plenty to celebrate this cycle and previous. According to the latest 247Sports composite rankings, the Green Wave have landed the two highest-rated recruits in program history for the Class of 2026, and they’re not just any two prospects. Tylan George, the massive interior offensive lineman from West Monroe High School in Louisiana, sits at No. 1 with a 0.8939 rating. The 6’3”, 310-pound 4-star prospect has been a dominant force on the offensive line, earning praise for his pancake block totals and elite strength (515-pound squat, 315 bench as a junior). George brings immediate size, power, and local pride to an offensive line room that’s hungry for impact talent. Right behind him at No. 2 is Jordyn Crites, the 6’6”, 255-260 pound defensive lineman from Friendswood High School in Texas. Crites recently earned his 4-star upgrade and a 0.8926 composite, making him one of the most athletic and long defensive linemen in the class (83-inch wingspan, 4.8 forty, 530-pound squat). He played both defensive end and tight end in high school and brings versatility, length, and upside that fits perfectly in Will Hall’s defensive scheme. Together, George and Crites represent a seismic shift in Tulane recruiting. Not only are they the top two in the 2026 class, but their ratings mark a new ceiling for what the Green Wave can attract. One bolsters the trenches on offense with mauling power; the other adds length and explosiveness on defense. Both have potential to contribute early and raise the floor (and ceiling) for their respective position groups. This isn’t just a good class, it’s a statement. Tulane is no longer just competing for regional talent; they’re landing blue-chip prospects who have Power conference offers and are choosing to build something special in New Orleans. The Green Wave are trending up, and these two are the new faces of that ascent. #RollWave #RMFW Make sure to follow Patrick Harkness on X
